Effect of charge imbalance caused by additive elements in Sr2MgSi2O7:Eu,Dy on optical properties

In order to investigate the constituent elements and afterglow properties of the long-afterglow phosphor Sr2MgSi2O7 (SMS), Mg sites were substituted with Li and Al. Samples were prepared by a solid-state synthesis method and evaluated using XRD, PL, and fluorescence lifetime measurements. The XRD results suggested that substitution occurred in the samples to which Li and Al were added, respectively. While changes in PL intensity with varying Li content were unclear, the presence or absence of Li had a pronounced effect on the afterglow characteristics. In the case of Al substitution, the PL intensity appeared to vary depending on the Al substitution site. Furthermore, Al substitution was found to degrade the afterglow characteristics. |
