What is required for tactile presentation as virtual reality is a sense of reality. Therefore, the objective of this research is to reproduce the shape and texture of objects based on vibration.
The relationship between human senses and stimulus signals is clarified through experiments, and a tactile rendering algorithm is established to synthesize the image surface features by modulating the frequency and amplitude of the stimulus signals for rendering them. Since tactile experience is considered to be influenced by visual information, we propose an algorithmic method for synthesizing tactile stimulus signals from physical values that does not depend on visual information. The amplitude of the high-frequency waves is modulated by a modulated wave that is numerically generated from the surface shape of the object by a laser displacement meter. It is shown that the envelope of the AM wave matches the surface topography of the object. The relationship between frequency, amplitude, and sensitivity in monotonic waveforms was clarified to generate effective AM wave. |
