[Poster Presentation] Fine-driving characteristics of ferroelectric liquid crystal for wide-viewing-zone holographic 3D displays

(in English) High-resolution spatial light modulators (SLMs) are required for displaying holographic images with a wide viewing zone angle. It has been reported that successful pixel contrast was achieved by electrodes with their pitch of 1 µm using ferroelectric liquid crystals (FLCs). So FLCs are expected to be a suitable material for high-resolution SLMs. In this study, FLCs were driven by fine pitch electrodes, and it was found that the decrease of electrode pitch leads to the decrease of the switching angle and the increase of the switching time of FLCs. Despite the decrease in the switching angle, it was found for the first time that the FLCs can be driven with an electrode pitch of 0.7 µm.
