Design of Liquid Crystal Lenses Adaptive to Oblique Incidence in Solar Tracking Concentrator Systems

In recent years, solar power generation has gained attention as a means of transitioning away from fossil fuels. Particularly, concentrated solar cells, known for their high light conversion efficiency, face challenges such as reduced installation feasibility due to the need for continuous solar tracking. To address this, this study proposes a liquid crystal lens-based approach aimed at minimizing solar tracking movement. We also present a liquid crystal alignment design method and a novel device structure. Through the analysis of liquid crystal alignment and diffracted light, it was confirmed that the proposed liquid crystal alignment achieves high concentration intensity along a single plane. |
