This paper presents a simplified and cost-effective method for beam steering using a 1-bit coding reconfigurable metasurface (MS) reflector. The double-layer design with inexpensive materials reduces both complexity and production costs. A mechanical sliding mechanism maintains reconfigurability without needing electronic components, lowering electrical complexity and power requirements. A 1x16 MS reflector demonstrates reflection angles of 0, 15, and 30 degrees, achieved through precise positioning of mechanical slides. The results validate the approach's effectiveness, affordability, and easiness of manufacturing. This streamlined layout offers an optimal solution for advanced wireless communication systems, particularly in scenarios requiring fewer electronic components and reduced energy consumption. |
