Study on matching method between satellite and ground images using CLIP model

The location where a query image was taken can be estimated by searching for satellite images that correspond to the query image in a database of geotagged satellite images. In order to enable matching with a satellite image database even for ground images with a limited FoV, we propose a method to match ground images with satellite images by using the weights of a CLIP model pre-trained on large-scale image-text pair data as initial values. We verify the effectiveness of our method through experiments using ground images with FoV 70°/90°. |
