Clothing image presentation method to improve texture perception

Although e-commerce is now widespread, some consumers are reluctant to use e-commerce because of the risk of not being able to convey detailed information such as the texture and material of a product to consumers through photographs. This study aims to propose methods for presenting clothing images that reduce differences in texture perception between real garments and their images. It investigates how using motion parallax and lighting changes in clothing images affect texture perception. The experimental results showed that, for materials such as black clothing, where shading is difficult to distinguish, the most accurate way to convey texture was to present the image by moving the camera back and forth, while linking the observer's movement to the camera position. |
