Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Vertical video contents that is compatible with mobile devices is attracting attention mainly on SNS. In order to create vertical videos easily from 16:9 aspect ratio videos, generation tools have been proposed that extract vertical videos from 16:9 aspect ratio videos. When it is necessary to fit multiple subjects into a vertical video to maintain the original intent of the video, if the distance between subjects or the number of subjects increases, they cannot be displayed in a vertical aspect ratio. Depending on the distance between subjects and the number of subjects, it may not be possible to fit them all into a vertical frame at once. In such cases, each subject can be displayed at different times to fit within the vertical frame using virtual camera work with horizontal panning. However, if the panning speed is too fast or too slow, it may cause discomfort as a video expression. Therefore, it is considered that there is a desirable panning speed when using camera work with horizontal panning. In this paper, we conducted an subjective evaluation experiment to evaluate the desirability of visual expression of vertical videos cropped at different panning speeds from 16:9 aspect ratio videos while changing conditions such as clip length, number of subjects, distance between subjects, and background footage. Then we analyzed desirable conditions of panning speed in horizontal panning.
