Since the term ‘Artificial Intelligence’ was coined 70 years ago, AI technology has developed remarkably. In recent years, deep learning has dramatically improved AI performance, and innovative generative AI technologies capable of producing text and images have emerged. Since the 1960s, NHK STRL has been working on the research and development of AI, such as pattern recognition, aiming to implement technologies that contribute to the efficiency of content production and the expansion of broadcast services. This paper provides an overview of the evolution and key points of AI technology empowering broadcast media and explores the potential of AI. |
