Depth range expansion using multiple eye-tracking 3D displays

Light field displays, such as integral 3D displays, need to reconstruct a large number of light rays in space, making it difficult to achieve high-quality 3D image display using current devices alone. Therefore, we propose a method to simultaneously expand both the depth range and the viewing zone by utilizing multiple eye-tracking 3D displays. We have prototyped a system that expands the depth range using depth synthesis technology, which employs two 3D displays and a half-mirror, and widens the viewing zone using eye-tracking technology. With the prototype device, we expanded the depth range to approximately 2.1 times that of a single 3D display and achieved a 3D image display with a wide viewing zone of 75.0° horizontally and 52.5° vertically. |
