A Study of Object Detection Model Compression Methods for Features Extractable CMOS Image Sensors

(in English) We examine the quantization and pruning of object detection models for CMOS image sensors capable of feature extraction. We first demonstrate that feature images with low bit resolution are robust to quantization of model parameters. Furthermore, we propose an efficient weight quantization taking account of the layer structure of the DNN model and the distribution of weight parameters. Compared to object detection using RGB color images and YOLOv7, the object detection using feature images and the proposed model reduces input data size by approximately 97.66%, model weight size by 99.02%, and computational cost by 96.20%. Meanwhile, the decrease in detection accuracy for large objects, mAP@50, is limited to 13.5% .
