The detector element sizes of clinically available high-resolution CT systems are 0.25 mm for conventional detector and 0.2 mm for photon-counting detector, which are not sufficient for the micro structures in the human body, such as trabeculae bone (0.1-0.2 mm) and peripheral small bronchi (about 0.3 mm). The speaker has designed and built a CT system with a dedicated design that can only capture images of a local area, with a resolution of 0.07 to 0.08 mm, and, in addition has started clinical research using the system. The performance of the device is extremely high, and while the frequency limit of the aforementioned photon counting CT device is around 3 mm-1, the developed device reaches 5 mm-1, and this is achieved with a practical radiation dose of 5 to 10 mGy. This lecture will introduce this research and development. |
