We investigate a tiny neural network (NN) that performs matrix operation circuits in a CMOS image sensor to realize a low-cost and extremely low-power-consumption image classification system. The NN is implemented by combining feature extraction using convolution operations within pixel arrays and digital matrix operations using systolic arrays. Software
simulations of small image classification tasks on public datasets confirmed that the classification accuracies achieved more
than 90 %. |
