The Influence of Local Feature Extraction on Outlier Removal Using Local Weak Geometric Consistency

(in English) In general, outliers in feature matching are removed based on geometric consistency. However, considering the impact on subsequent processes, it is beneficial to reduce them at earlier stages. Weak Geometric Consistency (WGC) can remove some outliers in advance by leveraging the consistency of orientation and scale changes of feature points across the entire image. This method assumes global consistency, but such conditions are rare in real scenes with noisy regions. In this study, we propose an outlier removal method based on local weak geometric consistency and evaluate its effectiveness through simulation experiments using real scene images with various local feature extraction methods.
