Conventional evaluation of cataract progression depends on the subjective judgment of physicians, and thus there is a need for quantitative evaluation. In this study, two slit images acquired by illumination from different directions are used to generate a single fused lens image, taking into account halation caused by illumination. Next, the image is used to extract areas of cataract opacity, and the degree of progression is quantified based on the feature values. This paper presents the processing method until extracting the area of cataract opacity and basic experimental results and discusses the effectiveness of this method. |
