A method for extracting the contours of archaeological remains from 3D point clouds has been proposed to support the creation of site maps. While this method yields favorable results for certain datasets, achieving comparable accuracy for remains with different geometries requires flexible parameter settings. Furthermore, since the interpretation of contours may vary among archaeologists who draw site maps, it is desirable to have an intuitive adjustment mechanism that can be tailored by each user. In this study, we focus on the "search radius in feature calculation," one of the most influential parameters in contour extraction. We propose a method for automatically estimating its recommended value based on the characteristics of curvature-based feature calculation with shorter calculation time and demonstrate its effectiveness through experiments on actual archaeological point cloud data. |
