Incoherent digital holography (IDH) enables three-dimensional imaging using spatially incoherent light sources such as sunlight or light-emitting diodes. However, the low contrast of holograms in IDH is easy to suffer from shot noise, resulting in degraded image quality of the reconstructed images. To address this issue, we have developed an annular polarizer that can reduce the influence of shot noise. In this study, we investigate the effect of the transmittance and extinction ratio of the polarizing area, as well as the phase shift between the polarizing and non-polarizing areas, on noise reduction by simulation. The numerical results show that the contrast ratio of the reconstructed images improved with decreasing transmittance and phase shift, but did not depend on extinction ratio. |
