We measured the luminance of aerial images formed by an AIRR (aerial imaging by retro-reflection) optical system with four types of plastic beam splitters (PMMA, PET, PC, and PVC) and clarified the requirements for a plastic material suitable for forming the high-luminance aerial images as the beam splitter. Green monochromatic light was used as the light source, and the luminance of the formed aerial images was measured using an imaging light measuring device. The luminance of the aerial images formed by PET and PC is higher than by PMMA, while PVC has the lowest luminance. |
