Application of the CG-line method for larger holographic directional volumetric displays.

(in English) This study aims to implement a rapid hologram computation technique to achieve larger holographic directional volumetric displays and enable real-time processing. Our research team has been developing directional volumetric displays that can exhibit various two-dimensional images from multiple viewpoints and has employed electronic holography as the projection method. Although the traditional point-based methodology can reconstruct high-quality images, it suffers from the drawback of demanding significant computation time to manage large images. In the volumetric display utilizing threads, all projected images are linear; therefore, the CG-line method, which enhances the speed of hologram computation for simple line-art objects, was utilized in this study. We assessed image quality and computation by comparing it with the point-based method. Despite considerations regarding image quality, the increase in speed was remarkably beneficial, being 35.8 times quicker than the point-based method for a 1,024px image.
