Today, AI using DNN is being utilized in all areas of society. However, Adversarial Examples(AE) have been reported as a threat to DNN. AEs are attacks that cause AI to misclassify input data by adding imperceptible noise to it. This threat necessitates countermeasure when considering future applications of AI. Therefore, numerous countermeasure against AEs have been studied to date. Nevertheless, issues have been reported in all countermeasure.
In this study, we propose a new approach that differs from conventional countermeasure: manipulating the topological structure of the feature space itself. In the proposed method, DNN feature vectors are mapped to a Torus space, and perform classification using class centroids. This method aims to realize a model that small noise in high-dimensional space have minimal impact on classification by reflecting periodicity of the Torus space in the feature space through mapping to the Torus space. |
