A Proposal for Model-Free Motion Parallax VR Using Omnidirectional Images

This study presents a VR system that reproduces motion parallax without using 3D models by switching among multiple omnidirectional images. The Meta Quest 3 sends position data to a Python program on a PC, which determines the nearest capture point and returns the corresponding image index. Unity displays the selected image in real time, achieving lightweight and realistic viewpoint transitions. Experimental and subjective evaluations showed that the proposed method provides natural motion parallax. Future work will focus on dynamic texture switching to enhance smoothness and realism. |
