We will create a supercapacitor that combines the two advantages of batteries with high energy density and capacitors with high power density. Activated carbon, a material often used for electrodes, has a porous structure. In order to produce it efficiently and cheaply, we will create activated carbon derived from biomass. By making it from used tea leaves, we can take advantage of the plant-derived characteristics to increase the surface area, and we can expect to reduce industrial waste and costs. Our goal is to create an asymmetric supercapacitor using this and graphene oxide as electrodes, and to make it emit LEDs. We will confirm whether the biomass-derived activated carbon has performance equivalent to or better than commercially available products. We are still working on creating the tea leaf activated carbon, but progress is going well with graphene oxide. |
