Artificial blood vessels used in hemodialysis serve as vital vascular access points that bypass arteries and veins.
However, shunt failure due to stenosis or occlusion caused by excessive blood flow remains a significant challenge. This
research aims to develop artificial blood vessels with flow control functionality that can be remotely operated by applying an
alternating magnetic field. We plan to composite Fe₃O₄ magnetic nanoparticles into a biocompatible polyurethane with shape
memory properties and evaluate its heat generation behavior and shape change characteristics under an alternating magnetic
field. We will compare the heat generation characteristics of magnetic particles differing in size and shape to determine the
optimal magnetic nanoparticle for use in the material. This presentation reports on the fabrication method for the composite
material and the current status of its fundamental property evaluation. |
