Study of Thermal Display Using Matrix-Arranged Heat Sources as Pixels

We proposed a thermal display that presents information to a thermal camera by arranging metal film resistors as pixels in a matrix configuration. Passive matrix addressing is adopted as the drive scheme. To enable thermal cameras to acquire accurate information, the input power is adjusted by the drive voltage and scan pulse duty ratio, ensuring the minimum temperature difference between on and off pixels exceeds the camera's temperature resolution. The scan cycle is set to 2 seconds or less to prevent ripple of display. Increasing the applied voltage and reducing the scan pulse width yields a larger temperature difference between on and off pixels for the same input power. We have confirmed that the thermal display operates in ambient temperatures environments ranging from −20℃ to 100℃. |
