[Poster Presentation] x-ray Luminescent properties of YF3:Ce3+Tb3+ nano particle phosphor

(in English) FPhotodynamic therapy (PDT) is an effective cancer treatment; however, its application to deep-seated tumors is limited due to strong absorption of ultraviolet (UV) light by tissue. X-ray-induced photodynamic therapy (XPDT) has been proposed to overcome this limitation by using X-ray-excited scintillators to activate photosensitizers. In this study, YF3:Ce3+,Tb3+ nanoparticles were synthesized via a solvothermal method and evaluated as potential scintillators for XPDT. Ce3+ ions emit in the UV region, while Tb3+ ions emit in the visible range corresponding to Rose Bengal absorption, enabling energy transfer between dopants.X-ray diffraction revealed that Ce doping stabilized the orthorhombic phase of YF3 alongside the cubic phase. X-ray luminescence spectra showed Ce3+ emission near 310 nm and Tb3+ emissions at 495–621 nm. Photon number estimation indicated that Ce doping enhanced luminescence efficiency at Tb concentrations around 3%, with maximum intensity observed at 10% Ce. These results suggest efficient energy transfer from Ce3+ to Tb3+, demonstrating the potential of YF3:Ce3+,Tb3+ nanoparticles for XPDT applications.
