We measured red-green (rg) contrast sensitivity in the nasal and temporal visual fields of the left eye in three participants,
extending measurements to near the limits of the visual field.
The results showed an increase in sensitivity that differed from contrast sensitivity functions (CSFs) reported in previous studies,
particularly at high spatial frequencies and large eccentricities. At locations where increased sensitivity was observed with increasing spatial frequency,
participants reported an inability to perceive color, suggesting possible contamination by luminance contrast. Accordingly,
for those spatial frequencies, we measured contrast thresholds at which color perception was still reported,
and the apparent sensitivity increase was no longer observed.
In addition, we applied three previously proposed CSF models to the measured data to examine their tendencies. |
