The use of social VR content for communicating with others in virtual spaces has been increasing. Communication in VR involves more frequent physical contact than in the real world, suggesting it enhances positive feelings toward others. Related studies have reported that physical contact between avatars increases likability, that spatial transition methods affect immersion and presence, and that differences in spatial color influence impressions. However, methods for manipulating avatar impressions by transitioning the entire space—independent of environmental settings—by altering the background light environment have not been sufficiently explored. Therefore, this study focuses on the relationship between avatars and background information in VR environments. We investigate how the method of transitioning the background light environment and the color of the space during physical contact in VR affect the impressions and sense of presence that users hold toward the other avatar. |
