A Control Method for Fragment Scattering Distribution in Physics-based Destruction Simulation

(in English) This study aims to control fragment scattering distribution into a user-specified range in physics-based destruction simulations. In this paper, as the first step of this research, we propose a method to generate intended destruction behaviors by optimizing simulation parameters, external force magnitude and material strength, using Bayesian optimization. These parameters are automatically adjusted to minimize the gap between the simulated and target distributions. The scattering is evaluated using Kernel Density Estimation to mitigate the influence of outlier fragments. Experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method by verifying whether the generated distributions converge toward some target values defined by the user.
