Automatic Extraction of Player Positions and Heatmap Analysis Method in Table Tennis Competition Videos

In this study, we analyzed video of table tennis matches using AI, automatically extracted player positions, and generated heat maps. YOLOv8 was used to detect players frame by frame, and the density distribution of their positions was visualized based on coordinate data. Experiments showed that we were able to quantitatively grasp the positioning tendencies and tactical characteristics of each player. We demonstrated that the proposed method is effective in automating and streamlining tactical analysis in table tennis. |
