The goal of this study is to achieve accurate digital archiving of small insect specimens. For specimens about 10 mm, traditional photogrammetry using multi-view focus-stacked images often suffers from subtle image distortions introduced during focus stacking, leading to inaccurate three-dimensional (3D) reconstructions. To address this issue, we propose a tool that enables manual refinement of 3D models using reference points generated from multi-view depth maps. To illustrate the feasibility of our method, we performed modeling and refinement on several small insect specimens. The results demonstrate that our method allows for restoring missing parts and eliminating noise in fine structures like legs and antennae. |
