A Method for Applying 2D Anime-Style Timing to 3D Characters Based on Movement Quantity Templates

This study aims to resolve the unnatural smoothness of 3D CG animation and reproduce the unique timing characteristics of Japanese 2D animation. We propose a method to apply motion templates derived from actual 2D animation to 3D motion frames. The proposed method removes frames with large motion displacement and duplicates frames with small displacement to create a limited animation style. Subjective evaluation results showed that the proposed method scored significantly higher in "sharpness of motion" and "naturalness" compared to conventional methods . |
