Adaptive surface mesh generation from particle-based fluid simulation toward GPU work graph

(in English) Fluid simulation has been widely used in computer graphics to represent realistic fluid phenomena. In particular, particle-based simulation has gained much attention for reproducing fine fluid details. To render this simulation data, it is necessary to generate a surface mesh from the particles. A common method is to divide the simulation area into a grid, to derive a 3D density field, and to extract isosurfaces. However, an increase in grid resolution leads to higher computational costs. While GPU parallelization and adaptive resolution approaches have been proposed, the challenge of maintaining high-resolution grids remains unresolved. This study examines adaptive surface mesh generation using GPU work graph, respecting a feature enabling efficient scheduling via graph-based command structures and register-based data sharing to reduce spatial computational costs. Proposed are highly local normal calculation and crack completion classification to handle resolution differences. We implemented them with conventional GPU-driven commands with an aim to explore the potential of GPU work graph optimization.
