Neural Interpolation-Based Hair Simulation for Diverse Hairstyles

In this study, we propose an interpolation method using Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to predict and generate full hair movements from a sparse set of guide hairs. While the previous approach by Lyu et al. utilized proximity within the parameter space for interpolation weighting, our method is distinguished by its focus on 3D spatial neighborhood relationships in the initial rest shape. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method maintains real-time performance while generating high-quality animations for various hairstyles with discontinuous lengths and flows, that were previously difficult to handle using conventional methods. |
