Effectiveness of a VR Rehearsal System for Acquiring "Distance Expression of Voice" using Speech Analysis

“Distance expression of voice” is a technique for conveying spatial distance through vocal adjustments. A VR training system for acquiring this skill has been proposed, but its evaluations have relied on subjective judgment, and objective analyses based on acoustic features have not been conducted. We analyzed voices of a professional voice actor to identify acoustic features and verified the effectiveness of the VR rehearsal system. Experiments showed that the system enhanced long-distance awareness and altered acoustic characteristics (speech duration, fundamental frequency, and intensity), suggesting its usefulness for acquiring “distance expression of voice.” |
