This study clarifies the influence of background pedestal components on point spread function (PSF) extraction from aerial images. In aerial imaging systems, direct measurement of the PSF is difficult, and camera-based indirect acquisition methods are commonly used. During this acquisition process, background components unrelated to the optical response may be uniformly superimposed on the captured images. In this study, such uniformly distributed background components are defined as background pedestal components, and experimentally acquired PSFs are analyzed on a logarithmic scale. As a result, background components that do not converge to 0 in low-intensity regions away from the main peak are observed. These results suggest that background pedestal components affect the interpretation of PSF decay characteristics and spatial distributions. |
