Extending Imaging Distance Using Surface Reflection and Polarization in Time Division Type Cylindrical Aerial Display

(in English) This research aims to overcome forward viewing limits and imaging distance-dependent scaling to achieve a compact 360 degrees aerial display. In previous research, we proposed the aerial display that displays cylindrical aerial image using a time division display, and demonstrated visibility from multiple directions through simulation and demo machine. However, conventional optical system enlarges as the imaging distance increases. In this research, we propose improved optical system using polarization and surface reflection. We demonstrated displaying aerial image through simulation and demo machine. Future challenge is reducing stray light caused by the structure of the optical element.
