Abstract We propose a gaze correction method for autostereoscopic displays to preserve eye contact in video communication and examines its ability to address issues in conventional video conferencing.Because conventional video conferencing systems use two-dimensional video, they offer a lower sense of presence than face-to-face communication. Although autostereoscopic displays can enhance presence, maintaining eye contact is difficult. To address this issue, eye regions captured by a stereo camera are replaced with a three-dimensional eyeball model, and the corrected gaze is displayed on an autostereoscopic display. This method achieves enhanced presence and maintained eye contact at low cost. Its effectiveness is evaluated through subjective experiments. |
