AIRR-Based Experimental System with Controlled Aerial-Image and Background Luminance for Visibility Evaluation Using Decorative Films

(in English) In aerial imaging by retro-reflection (AIRR), adding decorative backgrounds simultaneously alters image luminance, background luminance, and floating distance, making it difficult to isolate their perceptual effects. To address this, we developed an experimental system that enables strict decoupling of these factors through independent control of the three parameters. Evaluation results confirmed high visibility and reproducibility of the aerial image relative to input pixel values of the light-source display. This system establishes a reliable foundation for the psychophysical evaluation of perceptual characteristics in decorated environments, facilitating the quantitative analysis of how decorative elements affect visibility and perception for the social implementation of AIRR.
