Development of Ultra-thin Laser Backlight Using Center HOE Structure for Holographic Contact Lens Display

We developed two types of ultra-thin laser backlights using double-sided and single-sided Holographic Optical Element (HOE) structures for the holographic contact lens display. In this study, we propose a center HOE structure in which the HOEs are sandwiched by two waveguides. This structure enables a thin configuration and allows for the utilization of both transmissive and reflective HOEs. Furthermore, it prevents performance degradation caused by HOE deterioration and mitigates potential health risks to the human body, such as those resulting from the leakage of HOE materials. |
