VVC) has been standardized to meet the growing demand for high-definition video. While VVC provides superior compression performance compared to High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), it entails a significant increase in computational complexity, making the reduction of encoding time a critical issue. In this paper, we propose a fast-Coding Unit (CU) partition search method based on the Walsh-Hadamard Transform (WHT) to accelerate VVC encoding. The proposed method determines the necessity of CU splitting in a stepwise manner based on the energy ratio and texture complexity derived from WHT calculations. This approach effectively reduces the computational cost associated with Rate-Distortion Optimization (RDO) while minimizing image quality degradation. Experimental results confirm that the proposed method reduces encoding time by 32.0% while keeping BD-rate loss within 0.97%. |
