In mmWave communication systems assisted by Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RISs), fast beamforming can be achieved by estimating the user position from camera images mounted on the RIS. The use of visual information reduces the overhead associated with beam training. However, in environments where the user is occluded by obstacles, detection accuracy degrades, making reliable beam selection difficult. To address this issue, this paper proposes an RIS beamforming method that cooperatively utilizes channel state information (CSI) and visual information in a complementary manner. Specifically, when the target user is visible to the camera, beam selection is performed based on visual information. In contrast, under occluded conditions, a deep learning (DL) model using CSI as input is employed to estimate the optimal beam. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves stable performance over a wide SNR range from -15 dB to 20 dB, attaining a maximum beam prediction accuracy of 86% in high-SNR environments. Furthermore, in low-SNR conditions, the proposed method improves prediction accuracy by up to 20% compared with the CSI-only approach. |
