A Simple Method of Estimating Dielectric Properties for Biological Tissues in the Medium-Frequency Band

(in English) In recent years, research on technologies utilizing electromagnetic waves has been actively conducted in the fields of medi-cine and biomedical engineering. In the biological applications of electromagnetic waves, it is essential to accurately deter-mine the electrical constants of biological tissues to simulate behavior of electromagnetic waves inside the body. Currently, measurement methods for the dielectric properties of biological tissues in the microwave band, such as the coaxial probe method, have been established, and a large amount of data on dielectric properties of biological tissues has been reported. In contrast, there is a lack of data on dielectric properties of biological tissues in the medium frequency (MF) band. The paral-lel capacitor method is often used to measure dielectric properties in the MF band, but in the case of biological tissues, the reliability is inherently limited. To address this issue, we have investigated a simplified approach to estimating dielectric properties of biological tissues without using an uncertain equivalent circuit.
