Olfactory displays, which provide spatio-temporal scent presentation synchronized with audiovisual content, have been extensively researched from both hardware and software perspectives. Recently, the emergence of commercial olfactory displays has made scent presentation more accessible. However, scent delivery significantly lags behind the recording and playback of audio and video, with few attempts at real-time presentation. This paper describes three research themes aimed at achieving real-time scent delivery: 1) detection of scent related objects in images, 2) development of a new scent blending method, and 3) investigation into how thermal sensations influence olfactory perception. This manuscript is a Japanese translation of the paper that received Best Paper Award at IDW ’25. |
