Support for the Acquisition of Embodied Knowledge in Windsurfing Based on the Reliving of Bodily Sensations

The acquisition of bodily skills and embodied knowledge requires not only repetitive practice but also an understanding of expert movement tendencies. This study proposes the Bodily Sensory Reproduction Player, a system that enables windsurfers to physically relive their own and others’ movements. Two case studies with top amateur and professional windsurfers and coaches from the Japan Windsurfing Association suggest that the system has potential as an effective training tool. In addition, a wrist compressing device was introduced to enhance perceived pulling force and improve the bodily reliving experience. |
