Quantitative Analysis of the Effects of Color Elements in Posters on Visual Attention

This study analyzes how color elements influence attention in a walking environment where multiple posters are displayed simultaneously. Based on the hue and tone concepts of PCCS, we designed background color, text color, and combined color conditions. Gaze behavior and subjective evaluations were collected while participants walked through an L-shaped corridor in which six posters were displayed. The analysis compared differences in poster position and color conditions using the number of initial gazes, average gaze duration, and subjective evaluations. The results suggest that attention in a multiple-poster environment is influenced not only by color elements but also by poster position and walking path. In addition, the conditions that attract initial gaze do not necessarily coincide with those that retain gaze, and combinations of background and text colors may contribute to attention and impression formation. |
