Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This paper describes a next-generation Studio-to-Transmitter Link/Transmitter-to-Transmitter Link (STL/TTL) transmission system compliant with Advanced Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting - Terrestrial (ISDB-T3). Compared with the current STL/TTL, the next-generation system is required to achieve both higher transmission capacity and higher reliability. To meet these requirements, the introduction of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), high-order modulation with adaptive modulation, and polarization-based Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) is being investigated, while ensuring coexistence with existing STL/TTL systems and effective utilization of existing facilities. In particular, polarization MIMO enables a significant increase in transmission capacity within the same frequency band. On the other hand, the introduction of these technologies requires careful consideration of interference with existing wireless systems and their impact on link design. This paper summarizes the technical conditions based on comparisons with the current system and discusses link design criteria, including required Carrier-to-Noise ratio (C/N) and link quality. In addition, candidate OFDM frame configurations satisfying the technical requirements are presented and their characteristics are discussed. Field experiments are conducted to evaluate and verify the proposed transmission system.
