Experiment on Antenna Directivity Control for FPU on UAV

We are developing a system that transmits aerial video captured by Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) equipped with microwave Field Pick-up Unit (FPU) to existing FPU base stations by using antenna directivity control. We have developed a prototype antenna switching device using multiple directional antenna elements to date, which not only reduced signal interruptions during antenna switching but also made the device more compact and lightweight. This report presents the results of flight experiments in which the developed device was mounted on a UAV, demonstrating the effectiveness of antenna switching operation and evaluating long-distance video transmission performance. |
