This paper reports the measurement of acoustic radiation pressure formed by an ultrasonic haptic display, one component of a multisensory display system that integrates an aerial 3D image based on AIRR (aerial imaging by retro-reflection) with ultrasonic haptic feedback. The spatial distribution was measured using an ultrasonic microphone. Voltage maps of the horizontal relative position between the device and the microphone were obtained under three conditions of their distance: the position where pressure perception began (Start), was strongest (Max), and ended (Fin). A ring-shaped pressure distribution was observed, and the measured radius was larger than the software setting. The effective range of the distance related to the radiation pressure, where high voltage was maintained, was also identified. |
