Open-set recognition (OSR) aims to identify and appropriately reject inputs from unseen (unknown) categories. However, existing OSR methods may misclassify unknown categories that are similar to the trained (known) categories and often require substantial amounts of training data. In this study, we focus on few-shot open-set recognition using a vision-language foundation model, CLIP. We reproduce experiments on a benchmark dataset, analyze the challenges involved—particularly the misclassification of unknown categories that closely resemble known ones—and explore potential approaches to addressing these challenges. |
