Enhancing the Accuracy of Trigonometric Function Approximation for Holographic Computation using Low-bit Error Correction

In holographic computation, trigonometric function calculations are the primary source of high computational load. While various trigonometric function approximation methods suitable for circuit implementation have been proposed, there have been limitations regarding the trade-off between circuit size and achievable accuracy. In this study, we improved accuracy while minimizing circuit size by appending a low-bit error correction term—representing the difference between the true value and the approximation—to existing approximation functions. For a given bit width, this approach reduced the approximation error by approximately 84% and improved the reconstructed 3D image quality by approximately 14%. |
